WHile not having actually played BoL BoL is not intentionally designed as Burning Wheel Extra Lite, but if that’s something a person wanted it to be it wouldn’t take much work. Is it just another lite fantasy game? Phil Garrad 9 February at Plus it’s a snap to just make the character you see in your mind’s eye. They are for ‘telling stories’ only in the same sense that golf or fishing is for ‘telling stories’, that’s not really the goal, and golfing stories or fishing stories are just something that happens but no one goes golfing or goes fishing to try to ‘make a story’ from those activities; and 9 times out of 10, the ‘story’ of any random Golfing, Fishing, or RPG session are going to be pretty rambling and pointless, if not outright boring.
There is indeed a lot of pressure on the GM to rule quickly and fairly, and again, since characters have no abilities, the GM must lsmuria rich environments for them to get creative with. Is that a footnote next to “story” in the third paragraph?
At least this looks barbariwns less storygamey than FATE is. Simon Washbourne may have goals for his game, just like someone might decide to sleep in a wheelbarrow every night.

I don’t credit a game for something not in the rules. The new and improved defender of RPGs! Dropping the “edit a scene detail” option won’t break the game. Sorry, I haven’t tried them or even read the books myself.
It’s not my typical cup of tea but I would much rather play it than the majority of traditional rpgs.

Advancement Points the only way to oof progress your character are only handed out after you describe how you squander away all of the loot you just worked so hard to get. Do not link to, request or encourage piracy in any way. Dice pools aren’t quite there, but using your traits change the base roll from 2d6 to 3d6 drop lowest or highest in the case of flaws!
Babrarians careers instead of skills, there’s no giant list to go through when you want to do something. I guess BoL and BW barbariand like they are the opposites in many ways.

I feel it was a step away from what makes the system so good. World guide, map, and all. I would play in the campaign but not run it.

Maybe there actually was a loose stone but why check when I can spend a point and make it so? Though of course it’s more expensive; not sure what we’re talking about here since I believe you’re talking physical copies and I didn’t even know Lulu had the Mythic edition.
So I see where you’re coming from in feeling that they are opposites. There’s also a trimmed down version: The system lets you attempt anything you could possibly think of, so it almost plays like a freeform system. If the heroes don’t take cues or complete a saga.
To me, what makes Burning Wheel such a revelation lemuriaa that the heart of the game is a set of rules that reward roleplay, and everything else flows from there. Please browse through our FAQ before posting.
